Erasmus, International Credit Mobility (ICM)

Research and Education exchanges

We participate in Erasmus ICM for research and educational exchanges of researchers and students with countries outside E.U. We are glad to accept applications from the Universities listed below, but also from other places around the world.

Erasmus ICM funds student mobilities for visits of 2-12 months for studies or training and staff mobilities for one to a few weeks for teaching or training. We provide teaching and training on Physics and Applied Mathematics, such as nonlinear dynamics, solitons, topological physics, micromagnetics, nonlinear optics, and related topics. We currently have Erasmus agreements with the following universities.

The program adminitration is with the Office of Internation Relations, under the Erasmus+ ICM program.

Question. What are the possible topics of study or training?
Answer. The graduate programs at the University of Crete offer a range of courses in Physics, Pure and Applied Mathematics (e.g., Mathematical Modeling, Machine Learning). For training possibilities, you could also look through the expertise of all the members of staff. Within our department, we encourage visitors to apply for nonlinear dynamics, solitons, topological physics, but we also consider applications in many other topics

Question. How can I apply?
Answer. If you are in a collaborating university, please contact the collaborating member of staff in your university. If you are in another university, please contact the coordinator at the U. of Crete (S. Komineas). Question. What is the expected scholarship?
Answer. For a student, we expect about 850 euros/month plus travel expenses (for comparison, a typical PhD scholarship in the country is 700-900 euros/month). This can cover living expenses in Heraklion provided accommodation is arranged in advance (accommodation can be considerably more expensive in the summer months in Crete).
